A large number of Black folks are congregating for the BET Experience this weekend, so it's no surprise that the LAPD is on high alert. This time, they're keeping their eyes peeled for something specific: those tell-tale double cups.
According to TMZ, LAPD officers have been briefed and ordered to arrest anyone they see partaking in sizzurp, the codeine concoction that has a following among rappers like Lil Wayne, Future, and 2 Chainz, all known fans of the purple drank.

There was, reportedly, a sizzurp seminar held in DTLA that let cops brush up their knowledge when it comes to identifying the illegal beverage. TMZ added that while cops are not going to be actively seeking out users, they will arrest people they happen to notice during their patrols.
What's more, the LAPD insists the focus on syrup has nothing to do with the BET Awards and is not racially-motivated.
Welp, the timing is certainly a coincidence.
