Watch This Great Grandmother Stop A Sex Offender as He Tries To Abduct a 16 Year Old Girl

Here's what alerted her to the crime.

A great-grandmother in Cleveland is being celebrated for her heroism this weekend, after busting a convicted sex offender and potentially rescuing a 17-year-old girl from harms way in the process.

As reported, when Christine Thornton saw a suspicious car driving by, she realized that something about the situation was off when she noticed the passenger was completely covered by a blanket.

The driver turned out to be a 46-year-old convicted sex offender, who recently was released from prison after serving nearly a 12-year sentence. Thornton decided to confront the man on Thursday (July 28) and took matters into her own hands, boldly marching to his house to ask questions about what was going on. Her suspicions appeared to have been spot-on, helping authorities to bring the man, who is currently out on parole, back into custody.

Police shared that the 17-year-old girl, who was rescued from the home after Thornton called the police, had met the man in question months ago, but that they were never intimate.

Authorities are now investigating the details regarding the situation, specifically how the two met and if there is any foul play in the matter.

Councilman Brian Kazy spoke on the matter, saying that Thornton’s actions “are the kind needed by citizens” in order to “take back the streets.”

“I hope it saved somebody else's child that he don't get hold to,” Thornton told reporters. “These kids are our future, don't damage them now.”

The great-grandmother also added that she prays someone would look out for her children and grandkids the same way she did.
