Schoolboy Q’s New Short Film Previews A Supposed Kendrick Lamar Feature

See the dramatic clip for ‘By Any Means (Part 1)’

Anticipation for Schoolboy Q’s sophomore album, Blank Face, is reaching its boiling point. After previewing the project with a dramatic trailer earlier this week, and then unveiling the tracklist on Instagram last night, Q has now dropped a sprawling video for “By Any Means (Part 1).”

The nine-minute short film presents a loose day-in-the-life look at Quincy’s South Central neighborhood, where he and his boys run red lights, roll through a pawn shop, and hide from the cops. Even as everything threatens to spiral out of control, though, they hilariously trade jabs and watch each other’s backs.

The song itself comes in around the six-minute mark, as the vid starts playing with trippy color grading. Q rips through two verses and previews what may be an uncredited feature from Kendrick Lamar (or, at least, someone who sounds a hell of a lot like Kendrick Lamar) on the hook. The clip ends with an ominous “to be continued,” so it looks like there’s plenty more drama ahead.

Blank Face drops on July 8 and includes features from Jadakiss, SZA, Vince Staples, Anderon .Paak, and more. Check out the full tracklist below:
