Royal baby Archie should provide staggering boost to U.K. economy

The United Kingdom's most popular couple, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, finally welcomed their long-awaited son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world this week.

Even though he's a newborn child, his birth is sure to help boost the British economy.

A retail expert told Hello Magazine that Archie could help increase sales in children's clothes and products by about $1.5 billion over the next two years.

And that’s nothing compared to how much his cousin, Prince George, generated in Britain. The son of Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly helped bring in $3.6 billion.

The royals themselves can claim hefty net worths, too.

Forbes reports Queen Elizabeth II has the top spot at $500 million. Prince Harry could be worth up to $40 million, while his wife Meghan Markle is reportedly worth around $5 million.

When you add up the royal family's combined value, they have an estimated net worth of $88 billion. That should be enough to provide Prince Archie with quite the luxurious upbringing.
