The Queen Puts Her Foot Down on Son Prince Andrew

After a judge decided to move forward with the civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, the Queen of England made a major step to separate Prince Andrew from the monarchy.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Prince Andrew has been sued by Virginia Robert Giuffre for infliction of emotional distress and battery. In the suit, Giuffre claimed that when she was 17 years old Jeffrey Epstein forced her to have sex with Prince Andrew multiple times between 2000 to 2002.

Over the last week, Prince Andrew and his legal team attempted to get the civil suit dismissed by using the 2009 settlement between Giuffre and Epstein. Andrew’s lawyer argued that some of the language used in the settlement also protects the prince.

However, New York Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan decided that was not the case. In fact, Judge Kaplan argued that the language in the 2009 settlement is so vague that it really carries no meaning at all.

Through the civil suit, Giuffre is seeking unspecified compensation and punitive damages, as well as a jury trial. Now, Prince Andrew will be continuing these legal woes on his own.

In a statement issued by the monarchy on January 13, Andrew will no longer be recognized for his military titles. Nor will Andrew be able to use the title of “His Royal Highness.”

The statement read, “With The Queen’s approval and agreement, The Duke of York’s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen. The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.”

In the comments section, supports of Queen Elizabeth agreed with her decision but also offered her their sympathies. Despite Andrew’s alleged actions, this cannot be an easy thing for the mom to endure.

“This is the right decision and my heart goes to the Queen,” one person wrote. “I’m so sorry for her Majesty,” another added.

“Well done Queen and team. This man is an individual and chooses his own path.”

According to the BBC, this decision comes after more than 150 Royal Navy, RAF, and Army veterans signed a letter asking the Queen to strip Andrew of his eight British military appointments. As the BBC listed, Andrew held a total of 8 titles. Those included:

  • Colonel of the Grenadier Guards (his most senior infantry regiment)
  • Honorary air commodore of RAF Lossiemouth
  • Colonel-in-chief of the Royal Irish Regiment
  • Colonel-in-chief of the Small Arms School Corps
  • Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm
  • Royal Colonel of the Royal Highland Fusiliers
  • Deputy colonel-in-chief of The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeths’ Own)
  • Royal Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The BBC also reported that the Duke’s royal roles will be delegated to other active members of the royal family.
